Saturday 10th
October 2020, Packington Somers, Meriden, 54 fished. 9 teams
of 6 of young
anglers between the ages of 10 and 15 fished against each
other in a contest to be crowned
Angling Trust Junior Champions 2020.
This match was postponed from
June at the height of the Covid pandemic and had to run
be in line with tight Covid restrictions which meant an on
line draw the night before, anglers
going straight to their pegs upon arrival at the fishery and
no presentations or results ceremony.
Heavy rain in the lead up to the match and a big drop in
temperature overnight meant this
was a struggle for most of the youngsters with most fish
being caught in the last hour of the match.
Conditions on the day didn’t help either with a cold
wind and showers making tackle presentation very difficult.
